In collaboration with Sezio's Artist Exchange Series, teens ages 14-18 are invited to participate in a hands-on illustration workshop with Brooklyn-based artist Morgan Blair. Blair, a recent graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, is a freelance illustrator and fine artist. After exploring Blair's creative and working process, participants will collaborate with the artist to create a large-scale collective illustration project.
On Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15 from 6 to 10 pm, all are invited to meet the artist and view her work on view at downtown's Luce Loft (1037 J Street). Road-tripping across the country to be here, Blair brought a large amount of work with her, spanning an array of media. Blair is the first featured artist in this new Artist Exchange Series, launched by local artist collective, Sezio. For more information, visit

Part cinematic funhouse, part short-film festival extraordinaire, the seventh annual alt.pictureshows returns in force as San Diego’s premier short-film showcase with a new collection of stunning and innovative live-action and animated short films that are sure to delight and surprise viewers. This year’s eagerly awaited installment of the popular film event will incorporate a small selection of animated shorts in the ‘Toon Town Troublemakers’ Detention Room including Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes’ Oscar-nominated, animated gem, “This Way Up,” among others.
With its wildly eclectic lineup of brilliant shorts, alt.pictureshows continues to break down the barriers of the movie-going experience by encouraging “physical channel surfing” where viewers can experience a range of different short films in the Museum’s various exhibition spaces as they screen on a loop throughout the evening. This year’s event will take place—for the first time—at the Museum’s downtown location, and will feature short cinematic works by the likes of Dumb Bunny (“Abbie Cancelled”), Sam Taylor-Wood (“Love You More”), Bill Plympton (“Hot Dog”), PES (“Western Spaghetti”), Don Hertzfeldt (“I Am So Proud of You”) Justin Newell (“Acting for the Camera”), Nadejda Koseva (“Omelette”), and many others. Please note that many of the program’s short films contain adult content and are not rated.
