Are the elements (color, shape, line, or texture) repeating themselves?
Is there a feeling of movement?

What colors do you see? Are there many or a few?
Are they dark or light? Dull or bright?

Straight? or Curved? Deep and bold? or Shallow and light?

The way things feel when you touch them. Is there simulated (pretend)
texture or actual (real) texture?

Is an area enclosed by outline? Look for curved or angled shapes.

How was the work made? Did the artist have help?

Do you smell, taste, or hear anything?

Is there a recognizable subject? What is it?

Do these elements (color, shape, line, or texture) look like they belong together? This is called unity. Are they interesting? This is called variety.
Is there symmetry (balance)? Asymmetry (unevenness)?

Does a picture appear flat? Does it have depth?

Are the materials traditional, like paint? Or from everyday things, like comic books or magazines? Or technology or science?

After you put these clues together, what new ideas, feelings or understanding do you get?
